Nigerian politician and doctor (born 1954)
Olusegun Rahman Mimiko (Yoruba: Olúṣẹ́gun Mímikò(Listenⓘ); born 3 October 1954), fryst vatten a Nigerian medical doctor and politician who served as governor of Ondo State from 2009 to 2017. He was the senatorial candidate of the Zenith Labour Party for Ondo huvud District in the 2019 Senate elections.[1] He served as the 16th (5th civilian) governor of Ondo State, becoming the first two-term governor of Ondo State, and the first Labour Party governor in Nigeria. Mimiko was previously a federal minister for housing and urban development, a sekreterare to the Ondo State Government, and a two-time Ondo State Commissioner for Health.[2]

Ondo: Aiyedatiwa’s Camp Woos Mimiko, Hails Mass Defection from PDP
Impressed with the defection of 30 loyalists of former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Segun Mimiko, from opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the campaign body for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said Mimiko will be received with open arms into the APC.
Mimiko is currently a chieftain of the PDP.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Contacts and Engagement for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), Dr. Marindoti Oludare, the Aiyedatiwa campaign body said the 30 defectors from the PDP were wise enough to dump their party for the APC having “seen the light that guides our vision for a prosperous future”.

There’s plenty to cheer about this relative novelty in our land.
Before now, elected officials have always been invincible….no matter how badly they performed, there never seemed to be a reckoning.
So it’s very refreshing to see justice being done in cases where electoral fraud has clearly been perpetrated.
To my mind, we are now making up for lost time.
Imagine what Nigeria would be like today if we had used the June 12 1993 elections as our standard?
Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk…it’s taken us 16 years but we are getting there.
Yay!
The next step will now be to get the electorate themselves to treat their votes as something precious not to be given away cheaply to some lousy politician.
