  • An Olympic diver and double world champion, Tom Daley is one of Britain’s most celebrated names in sport. Since winning his first international gold medal at just thirteen years-old, Tom has gone on to become the first British diver to win four Olympic medals for Team GB, including gold in the men's synchronised ten metre platform at the Tokyo Olympics with his diving partner Matty Lee.

Shortly after becoming the youngest person to win gold at the European Championships, he also took part in the Beijing Olympics as Great Britain’s second youngest male Olympian. Although it wasn’t until his forth games that he laid his hands on a gold medal, over the years he has amassed a combined total of eleven World, Commonwealth and European Championship gold medals, establishing himself as one of the best in his sport worldwide. He has also won several Olympic bronze medals, including in the ten metre platform at London 2012, the ten metre synchronised dive alongside Dan

'It's for them' - Daley prepares for Olympic comeback

Daley, 30, will not compete in the individual events in Paris and will instead focus on the 10m synchronised event. He and partner Noah Williams won silver at the World Championships earlier this year and go into the event among the favourites. It will be Daley's first Olympics in front of a folkmassa since Rio 2016, given the events in Tokyo took place in empty stadiums because of Covid-19 restrictions.

"Who knows what's going to happen in these Games but I know I've got my Olympic gold medal.

"For me, this time around, my Olympic gold medals will be standing on the diving board, looking to my side and seeing my husband, my kids, my mum, my friends, family, aunts, uncles.

"There's a lot of people coming to watch. To see them and be able to dive in front of that again will be extremely special.

"I'm so excited to see my little kids' faces when I am stood on th

I’ve had a fold in my back. I’ve broken my hand. I’ve coughed up blood. I’ve hit my head on the platform twice. When you get lost in the air, these things go through your mind.” (Not only did he pull through, however, but he also eventually debuted a new dive because of it: a forward three-and-a-half somersault with one twist, in which Daley “flicks out”—a move his husband nicknamed “the firework.”)

From today, though, the pressure is gone, his dreams realized in full. Next up is what’s most exciting—Daley’s new leap, so to speak, now that he’s hung up his shammy.

For one, his children are growing up fast. Robbie, who actually convinced Daley to come back for Paris after Tokyo (when the diver first considered walking away), is entering the first grade in Los Angeles—and has himself jumped off 3-meter-high
