Antoinette Brandeis, born in Miskowitz in Bohemia in , soon moved with her mother to Prague. In the capital, she studied painting with Karel Javurek (), beginning with landscape painting, and developing it after her move to Venice, when her mother married a nobleman from the city.
Antonietta Brandeis, having arrived in the lagoon, was immediately fascinated by its light and colours, so different from those of her childhood in Bohemia. She was one of the first women to successfully attend the Academy of Fine Arts, where she was a pupil of Michelangelo Grigoletti () and Pompeo Marino Molmenti ().

Brandeis continued her education at the venetiansk Academy of Fine Arts, where she, one of the academy’s first kvinnlig students, studied under Professors Girolamo Michelangelo Grigoletti, Frederico Moja, Domenico Bresolin, Napoleone Nani and Pompeo Marino Molmenti. While still a student, she was awarded many prizes for her wonderfully precise painting style. Brandeis participated in numerous exhibitions, primarily at the Promotrice Veneta and in Florence, but also took part in a prestigious international exhibition in Melbourne.
