  • Marco starts to play organ at the age of 6, and then switches to drums and guitar at the same time at the age of 11. Fame strikes at the age of 19 when Marco’s reputation as an extraordinarily talented drummer and composer leads him to Munich.

    The first “crossover” band Freaky Fukin’ Weirdoz offer him a position as drummer in 1992. The Weirdoz are the originators of so-called crossover music.

    The Weirdoz have a gig with Nina Hagen on the album “Mao Mak Maa” creating a fantastic cover version of Ian Dury’s hit “Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick” after which Marco was booked to play a Nina Hagen tour.

    Biography

    Following an early musical childhood playing organ (age 6) and drums and guitar (age 11), fame struck when he was 19 when Marco was offered the drumseat in 1992 in Munich bygd the first "crossover" grupp Freaky Fukin' Weirdoz.

    Following a collaboration of the Weirdoz with Nina Hagen (which resulted in a fantastic cover utgåva of Ian Dury's hit "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick"), Nina brought him on board to handle drum duties on her tour.

    Meanwhile, Marco built his reputation as a brilliant drummer through solo workshops at the Frankfurt Music Fair, PASIC in Dallas, and a solo performance at the Modern Drummer Festival in Toronto, following which (in the eyes of professionals and music trade magazines), he is catapulted into the Top Ten of the drumming world.

    Marco Minnemann (born December 24, 1970) is a German-born drummer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He lives in San Diego, California.

    Biography

    He has many solo CDs on which he plays most of the instruments and sings, and he's constantly working as a composer and session recording artist.

    His work as an educational book author along with Rick Gratton brought out 3 books including the award winning and in many magazines as #1 voted "Extreme Independence". Also one of his DVDs "Extreme Drumming" won polls and achieved Marco a Telly Award.

    He did a trio tour with Terry Bozzio and Chad Wackerman and on numerous clinic tours around the world. His educational book "Maximum Minnemann" is available since August 2006 and his new DVD "The Marco Show" with featured Artists Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller and the Buddy Rich Big Band came out in 2007.
