    Hardware trader killed over property row in Champaran

    Patna: A hardware businessman was shot dead in East Champaran district on Sunday while riding a scooter to the market with his nephew. Two men on a motorcycle fired at him, but his nephew managed to escape unharmed. Police said the killing was probably linked to a property dispute between the victim and his relatives.
    The deceased, year-old Ramayan Sah from Madhuban village, was in the area for his father’s funeral, who had passed away on July Ramayan, who ran a hardware shop in Kathmandu, had returned to his village for the last rites, which were held on Saturday.
    According to Pipra SHO Sunil Kumar, Ramayan was on way to a local market to buy items for the ‘shraadh’ ceremony with his nephew, Vikash Sah, when the attack occurred. Ramayan was hit in the chest by a bullet. Police recovered two empty bullet shells from the spot. The cellphone and wallet of the victim were left untouched, suggesting robbery was not a motive.
