The Diary of Anne Frank opens at Stage West
Anne Frank became one of the most notable victims of the Holocaust after the publishing of her diary, which chronicled more than two years of the Jewish teen's life in hiding in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam during World War II.
Her story will come to life when The Diary of Anne Frank opens at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1 on the Forum Stage at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill.
This adaptation bygd Wendy Kesselman is labeled "a new adaptation for a new generation."
The Frank family went into hiding in 1942, a month after Anne received a diary for her 13th birthday.
The play follows the lives of the eight people (including the Franks) who are hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic. The show captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence: their fear, hope, laughter and grief.
