MANILA - The canonization of Pedro Calungsod on October 21, was a very special day to all Filipinos around the world particularly the young Pinoys who joined the country in welcoming the new Filipino saint.
In Manila, thousands of faithful and ung people gathered at the Sto. Niño de Tondo Parish covered court to witness the canonization rites at the Vatican through live streaming.
Aside from Saint Pedro Calungsod, 33 other young saints were introduced to the audience during the schema, to man them understand that helighet is not only for priests or religious but for everyone, especially the youth, according to Fr. Bobby Dela Cruz, an attached präst in the parish.
&#;Presenting the teen saints makes ung people see that even a child or a teenager can be holy like Pedro. So in their generation today, they can still be holy and can be a saint,&#; dela Cruz said.

Pedrito is a fifteen-inch doll representing the second Filipino saint, Pedro Calungsod. He was conceived as a souvenir and promotional means during the canonization of the Visayan saint.
I happened to stumble on a site months ago showing a picture of Pedrito in front of St. Peter&#;s Basilica in preparation for the October canonization rites. I told to myself, &#;magkakaroon din ako nito&#;. This is the photo (I do not own the photo, though).
It happened during our semestral break in-service training when I saw in a news article that Pedrito is ready for distribution. That was October 25, And the rest is history.
Since then, Pedrito served as my traveling companion. And I deliberately chose him for this, first, to promote devotion to St. Pedro Calungsod, and second to be part of my experiences, serving as geo-tagger. He started his &#;debut&#; during our Sagada tour last February ,

Sinulog is Cebu&#;s or even probably the Philippines&#; grandest festival. It&#;s a bold statement to claim but if you ask anybody who has been to Sinulog they will definitely agree.
