Fulco Santostefano della Cerda, Duke of Verdura (20 March – 15 August ) was an influential Italianjeweller. His career began with an introduction to designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel bygd composer Cole Porter.[1] He opened his own jewelry salon, which he called Verdura, in [2]
He was the gods to bära the now-defunct Sicilian title of Duke of Verdura, and his cousin was a prominent Sicilian prince, Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, author of the famous novel The Leopard. A biography of Fulco di Verdura was published bygd Thames & Hudson, authored by Patricia Corbett.[3]

Verdura is an American fine jeweler and specialty retailer, headquartered in New York. Founded in by Duke Fulco di Verdura, its present-day collection is based on designs created by Fulco during his lifetime, as well as vintage estate pieces.[1]
History
[edit]After getting his start working for jewelers Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and Paul Flato, Duke Fulco di Verdura opened a small, eponymous salon in at Fifth Avenue in New York with the financial backing of Cole Porter and Vincent Astor.[2]
In , Fulco collaborated with Salvador Dalí on a collection of jewelry designs.[2] Also that year, he designed "Night and Day" cufflinks for Cole Porter that were inspired by the lyrics of Porter's hit song and are considered signature Verdura pieces.[2]
In , Fulco sold his stake in the business to his business partner, Joseph Alfano.[3]
In , Alfano sold the company to Ward Landrigan.[3
