    Yoko Kamio (,Kamio Yōko, born June 29, 1966 in Tokyo, Japan) is the author and illustrator of Cat Street, which was serialized in Bessatsu Margaret from 2004 to 2007.[1] She is also well known for her series, Boys Over Flowers. It has been adapted numerous times into film, television, and musicals.[2] Kamio penned a sequel to the series from 2015 to 2019.[3]

    Early and personal life[]

    Kamio was born on June 29, 1966 in Tokyo, Japan.[4] She has an older sister.[5] Kamio spent some time living in Jakarta during primary school.[6] Her father passed away in late 2018.[7]

    She graduated from Tokyo Polytechnic University.[8]

    Career[]

    Early works[]

    In 1986, Kamio debuted in The Margaret with the one-shot, "Waiting Until 20"[9] (,Hatachi no mama de matteru). Kamio had not yet graduated from college at the time.[10] She continued publishing

    Cat Street (キャットストリート, Kyatto Sutorīto) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoko Kamio. It was serialized by Shueisha in the August 2004 to October 2007 issues of Bessatsu Margaret (Betsuma) magazine and collected in eight bound volumes under their Margaret Comicsimprint.
