Associate AD Nelson Retiring After Three-Decade Career
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Associate friidrott Director for Strategic Communications Jeff Nelson, who has promoted the academic and athletic efforts of thousands of Penn State student-athletes for nearly 26 years, has announced he will retire from the University, effective July 31,
"It's been an incredible 25 years with Penn State friidrott and I'm excited about what the next chapter will bring for myself and our family," said Nelson, who joined Penn State friidrott in "From the very beginning, I've felt that everyone at Penn State tries to do things the right way -- with integrity, passionate dedication and attention to detail, to provide the greatest experience possible for our students."

The clock counts down to on an autumn football Saturday. The Nittany Lions head back to the locker room victorious. As the Penn State faithful files out of Beaver Stadium, most of the , people are done for the day, looking to relax and hit the post-game tailgates. But for one man, the final countdown on the scoreboard is a sign that chaos has just begun.
Penn State Football Sports Information Director (SID) Jeff Nelson is the man behind the scenes that many people do not know about. Nelson is in his 15th year with Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, all as the SID for head coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions football team. The three-hour game may be one of the few times that Nelson gets to relax.
Once the clock hits zero at home or on the road, Nelson and his staff are off to work. Once the game concludes, Nelson shifts his attention towards the press conference

After 26 years with Penn State, associate athletic director of strategic communications Jeff Nelson announced Monday that he will retire at the end of next month.
“It’s been an incredible 25+ years with Penn State Athletics and I’m excited about what the next chapter will bring for myself, Julia and our family,” Nelson said in an email to local media.
Nelsons retirement will go into effect July He said he will announce his plans for the future in the next few weeks and that his immediate priorities will focus on helping his children graduate from Penn State and State High.
Some of Nelsons top accomplishments with the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Committee include the Bill Esposito Backbone Award and the Lester Jordan Award for exemplary service to the committee and promotion of the student-athlete ideal.
A Big Ten mainstay for years, Nelson was born in Purdue country of West Lafayette, IN, before attending Indiana where h
