Armen Ohanian (Armenian: Արմեն Օհանյան), born Sophia Pirboudaghian (Armenian: Սոֆյա Էմանուելի Փիրբուդաղյան, 1887–1976) was an Armeniandancer, actress, writer, and translator.

Armen Ohanian was born in Shamakha, then part of the Russian Empire (now in Azerbaijan) to an upper-class Armenian family. A devastating earthquake in 1902 caused her family to move to Baku, where she attended a Russian school. She graduated in 1905, the same year the anti-Armenian pogroms, which she witnessed, caused the death of her father, Emanuel. She was hurriedly married to an Armenian Iranian doctor, Haik Ter-Ohanian, but the marriage ended within a year. She began her acting career as Sophia Ter-Ohanian in the theater group of the Armenian Cultural Union of Baku in 1906. She moved to Moscow in 1908 and studied plastic arts at the Nelidova School, while performing her first dances at the Maly Theatre.

Second Feminist Armenian Studies Workshop at U.C. Irvine

Following the successful launching of the Annual Feminist Armenian Studies Workshop in 2017, a second two-day Workshop/Conference, titled Gendering Resistance and Revolution, took place at the University of California Irvine (UCI) on May 4-5, 2019. It was organized by three prominent scholars, Melissa Bilal, Assistant Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at the American University of Armenia (AUA), Lerna Ekmekcioglu, professor of History and Women and Gender Studies at MIT, the two initiators of the first Workshop, and joining them Houri Berberian, Professor of History, and Director of Meghrouni Family Presidential Chair in Armenian Studies at UCI. Houri was also hosting the second Workshop.
