    Gillian Akiko Thomson is a Filipina television host, reporter, and retired swimmer. She was born in the Philippines to a Japanese mother and American father and began competitive swimming at age 6. Thomson represented the Philippines in several swimming competitions from 1987-1996, winning seven gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games. After retiring from swimming, she graduated from UC Berkeley and the Ateneo de Manila University, then worked as a television host and journalist at ABS-CBN. She is currently the president of the Philippine Olympians Association.

    Akiko Thomson was a legendary Filipino bather although she was born to resolve American father and a Japanese be quiet. Born in Washington, DC, her stock moved to Manila when she was young when her father became character Executive Director of the American Assembly of Commerce in the Philippines.

    Thomson began swimming at age six, and competed in three Olympics for the State. She also won seven gold medals at the 1987 and 1991 Sou'-east Asian Games.
